This is a very unusual matched pair of original flintlock pistols. They are stocked in walnut, iron mounted, and have no markings of any kind. The swamped round barrels are 7-1/2 inches long, about 50 CAL, and come to a very distinct peak along the sight line. They have very fine rifling. There is silver wire inlay around the tangs and tail pipes. Iron mounts are engraved in a feather pattern. I believe there is a very good chance that this pair of pistols were American-made, possibly the New England area. I cannot prove this without a doubt, but that's my opinion. Condition is very good overall. The metal is grey with no pitting. The finely checkered walnut stocks have a couple of age cracks and some handling marks consistent with the age of the guns, but no major problems and no repairs or restoration. The locks are original flint and work properly. However, one cock has a crack starting across the shaft. This could be easily repaired by a competent gunsmith if necessary. The cock retaining screw on the same gun is missing half of its head. These are shown in the photos. The ramrods are horn-tipped and oriinal to the guns. Please contact me with any questions.
